Orange VT1000 valve tester repair. I recently had to repair my own Orange VT1000 valve tester. I thought I’d post the pictures here.

You can see the bad joint that was causing problems with the Octal Valves.

I have had valve amp work done by Rowan in the past, I didn’t know he repaired digital stuff like my Line6 Helix.  Both he and Dave are lovely guys who really do know their stuff.  The diagnosis and repair was turned round in just over a week, price was very reasonable, comms were great, and my Helix now works perfectly again. Line 6 users should be aware of Rowan Diskin at Keld Ampworks, especially since the closure of E & M services, as reputable repairers in the UK are few and far between. Any viable alternatives seem to be located at geographical extremes if you're based more towards the midlands, so his Newark based workshop is like an oasis. Took my Helix  for a USB port replacement and the whole repair was completed efficiently for a reasonable cost while I waited.

It saved me 3 hours of travelling so was well worth the extra when considering time and fuel. He repaired my amplifier in one and three quarter hours. He is very thorough and works efficiently. He also spotted a couple of concerns apart from the initial issue which were corrected at fair cost and very quickly. A talented technician indeed!

Within minutes Rowan had figured out what was wrong and was fitting four new valves and a preamp valve. After a thorough test of the amp I was on my way within an hour. Literally fixed, tested and returned while I waited. On top of that Rowan is just a really genuine guy. I don’t think I’ve ever made an easier recommendation. Cheers Rowan.

He inspected the amp head very thoroughly and found out why it can't be switched on.  He explained to me on every step he's going to do on the amp head.  It takes less than an hour for fixing it up.  Amazing!!!  As suggested, we enjoyed a nice coffee nearby at Corner House Cafe before taking a long journey to home (2.5 hrs drive)!!  I must say: It worths taking a long drive to Rowan's workshop! I’d replaced the pre-amp valves myself and thought it had been cured as I tested it at home…..but as soon as it was called on to perform live again….nothing. I run a guitar repairs workshop myself and have known of Rowan for a long while and referred anyone needing their amp fixing to Keld, but this was the first time I’d taken an amp to him. He kept me in the loop at all times, even providing me with a helpful video of his findings, which was great.  Tried the amp at rehearsals the other night and it’s the monster it always used to be once again!  I will continue to refer my amp enquiries his way as he’s a obviously a master of his craft.
